About us

It started, as many good things do, with love — and some glowing green glass.

In 2024, Anastasia — my wonderful wife of 20 years — stumbled across some beautiful photos of vintage uranium glass in one of her social media feeds. About a week later, she stopped by a local yard sale and spotted a suspiciously green plate for 50 cents, and brought it home. She shone a UV light on it and — sure enough — it was vintage uranium glass worth around 20 times what she had paid. From that moment on, she was hooked on the hunt for more uranium glass, and other vintage treasures.

We started spending almost every weekend together on outings to vintage markets and antique shops across New England. Over time, Anastasia's collection had begun filling every corner of our small ranch house from floor to ceiling. Eventually, she realized that selling some of her finds could fund the hobby she loved — not as a business, exactly, but as a way to keep doing what she loved without the collection taking over our home. She's an incredibly organized person, but more the analog type — with no desire to bring ugly spreadsheets into her hobby. So she asked me to put together a simple Word template she could use to track her pieces on paper. As a good techie husband, I of course obliged.

But I couldn't stop there. I'd started my career 25 years ago as a software engineer, but transitioned to software product design 10 years in — as my passion for software was much more about creating beautiful, refined experiences, than about the technology itself.

And right around this time was when AI-powered development tools had arrived on the scene. Suddenly I was once again able to actually build the software tools I envisioned in my mind. Instead of just creating that template, I built Anastasia an entire app that didn't just track her collection, but celebrated it — something she'd actually enjoy using.

Then came a moment that was frightening, but also clarifying: In December of 2024, just days before Christmas, I lost my job.

For most of my career, starting a software business of my own had lived in the back of my mind as something I'd do "someday" — but "someday" has a way of arriving when you least expect it, and suddenly "someday" was staring me in the face. I was nervous about the future, especially about trying to job hunt in the era of AI taking over a lot of roles for people like me. I kept having one thought I couldn't shake: the one job AI will never replace is "Founder."

So I stopped waiting and started building. Trésora is the result of all of these things coming together at once — Anastasia's passion for the hunt, my love of building beautiful things, and a moment in time that made starting something big feel less like a risk and more like the only logical next step. I hope Trésora helps you organize, celebrate, and fall even deeper in love with your collection — whatever your own story happens to be.
